The Meriel Mitts are a pair of simple, elegant fingerless mitts named for a Welsh name meaning “bright sea.”  Worked in the round from cuff to palm using a sportweight handpun yarn, they have an easy-to-memorize twisted cable pattern reminiscent of the scales of a mermaid’s tail that runs along the outside edge of the top of each mitt. A few racing stripes of twisted rib worked in place of traditional seams and gentle wrist shaping allow for a comfortable, tailored fit.  While the pattern is written for long mitts, instructions for shortening are provided.  I know how frustrating it can be to come up just a few yards short, especially when using one’s precious handspun yarn!

Pattern available exclusively from Ennea Collective.  Includes both written and charted instructions.
